I’m Reinholds Zviedris, a hands-on technology advisor with more than 25 years of experience across platform engineering, DevOps/SRE, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and technical leadership.

I help technology companies build secure and reliable platforms, improve their engineering and security practices, and become enterprise-ready - including preparing for and operating SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance programs. I also work with companies in fractional and interim CTO roles, combining strategic technical leadership with hands-on engineering.

My interest in information security goes back more than two decades. In 2005, I defended my Master’s thesis on IT security auditing, with a particular focus on BS 7799 and ISO/IEC 17799 - the standards that form part of the foundation of today’s ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27002 family. Looking back at that work twenty years later has been a fascinating reminder that while our technology has changed dramatically, many fundamentals of security, risk management, governance, and continuous improvement have not.

I hold a PhD in Computer Science, but I’ve always remained a hands-on practitioner. My experience ranges from systems and network administration to software development, cloud architecture, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, compliance, and engineering leadership.

On Medium, I plan to share perspectives shaped by more than 25 years of hands-on experience - covering platform engineering, SRE, cybersecurity, ISO 27001 and SOC 2, cloud infrastructure, compliance engineering, and technical leadership. I’ll also revisit ideas and practices from earlier in my career to explore what has changed, what hasn’t, and what those lessons can teach us today.

I’m also the founder and lead advisor behind Estivador, where I help technology organisations become more secure, reliable, and ready for the demands of enterprise customers.
